This Ford Transit was being driven by a man who thought he would rather drive himself and his friends back from a local pub than pay for a taxi, South Yorkshire Police Operational Support reported.
They said: “The same chap managed to get a fairly easy bend in the road towards Barnburgh so badly wrong that he managed to put his van (the means by which he earns a living) upside down and pointing the wrong way. He also managed to seriously injure one of his passengers (a friend allegedly) in the process.

The driver refused to provide any samples that were required of him in respect drinking and driving, presumably thinking it would help his case later on if the police could not prove he was drunk or otherwise under the influence (which for the record, it definitely will not).
“Once he had been released from hospital, he was given a room with no view for the rest of the evening and spoken to by colleagues from our day shift the following morning.
“After being interviewed, he was released under investigation for a short while until we can work out exactly how badly injured his friend was.
“Thankfully, with a bit of luck, the friend will make a good recovery in the fullness of time.”
