The first of a new wave of officers have just started with the neighbourhood policing teams which look after Mexborough, Bentley, Adwick and Sprotbrough, with more officers set to start in similar roles in Edlington and Mexborough early in the new year.
It is the latest step in the expansion of community policing across Doncaster as a whole, which is bringing new officers as part of a wider recruitment effort.

And the Doncaster East neighbourhood also recently saw two officers starting community policing roles, targeting Armthorpe, Hatfield and Dunscroft. They are already working on specific projects within that area, revealed their neighbourhoods inspector, Insp Alison Carr.
Neighbourhoods inspector for Doncaster West Insp Adrian Luscombe expects the extra officers to make a significant difference to the area in the medium to long term.
He said: “I’ve got seven new officers starting with the team coming through under a scheme called Police Now.

"By mid January, they should all be in place. and in the medium to long term that should bring big benefits.
"Four of them have already started in their neighbourhood teams. Three are currently gaining experience with the response teams before they move across.
“Three have already started and are based at Davis House, serving the areas around Adwick, Bentley and Sprotbrough, in the North of the Doncaster West neighbourhood. One has already started covering Mexborough and Conisbrough.
