Kaiyas Smith, 6, from Wheatley, made the decision to have 13 inches of her hair cut off to donate to the Little Princess Trust earlier this month.
Her mother, Jessica Alice Smith, aged 25, said: “It started when we watched Children in Need - Kaiya saw the sick children on the telly and said: ‘Why can’t the poorly girls have my hair’?

Kaiya’s parents set up a sponsorship form with the charity The Little Princess Trust and arranged a hair appointment with Bloww in the town centre.
“Kaiya’s hair was so long, it was down to her bum and gorgeous,” Jessica said.
“We kept asking her are you sure you want to cut it but she was determined.

“She’s the type of kid that can bounce into a play area and five minutes later come and tell you she’s made new friends.”
The charity turns donated hair into wigs for children that have lost hair through cancer or alopecia.
“I’ve cried multiple times over how proud I am of her for doing this - it was all her idea,” she continued.

“All her family have been ringing her up to tell her what an amazing thing she has done.”
Kaiya has already decided that when her hair grows back that she will donate it again in a couple of years.
Jessica said: “We decided that as well as sending the hair that it would be nice to send some money as well - she raised £255 on JustGiving and £123 from sponsorships from her school Kingfisher Astrea Academy.”
