Doncaster singer tackles The Young Ones for the older ones

The single was covered as part of All Eyes on Culture, a project that saw b:friend neighbours, from the local charity, select songs for two local musicians to sing.
As part of the project, commissioned by Right Up Our Street, with support from Arts Council England and Doncaster Council, August was given the track to listen to and he then recorded a cover for the neighbours to enjoy.

Hide AdHe said: “I know it might be hard to believe, but I’d never heard this track.
“But I loved it and am now a fan.
“It was a great project to be a part of bringing the younger and older community together through music.”
All Eyes on Culture was one of seven projects that took place in Doncaster during June commissioned by Right Up Our Street in a bid to ensure artists’ work continued to engage with people in the town during the coronavirus lockdown period.
Mike Niles, from b:friend: said “It is really nice that at a time when older neighbours in Doncaster have been forced to self-isolate and disconnect for their own health, these artists are connecting and offering companionship through music.”

Hide AdAugust has now released his own single, Take Me Away which is available now on all streaming platforms.
With the track August is inviting listeners to escape from the trials and tribulations of everyday life in these difficult times.
He said: “Take Me Away is a fusion of jazz and soul. In times like this we all need to lose ourselves a little in music.
“It has been a great journey to get to this point and I’m so pleased to be in a position to release this single.”

Hide AdIn 2019, August was scouted by the respected Higher Rhythm Talent Development Program. Working alongside renowned studio engineer Paul Littlewood and multi-award winning producer Andy Seward, August benefited from high-quality recording and mentoring facilities.
He said: “It was here, in Doncaster, that I transformed my potential into tangible achievements – such as 'Take Me Away’.
